21/06/2008: An all-new wireless internet service provider entered the market in Jordan with the launch of Wi-Tribe. Founded by two shareholders, Qatar Telecom and A.A. Turki Group (ATCO), wi-tribe is described as the ‘instant and simple’ broadband service provider, targeting young and sophisticated Internet users looking for increased freedom from fixed line with the capacity to send and download large files and enjoy live ‘streaming’ of content at high speed.

KHP developed a holistic corporate and consumer PR and Communications strategy for wi-tribe tailoring the consumer communications to meet the unique requirements of each individual market in which wi-tribe will operate. Initially wi-tribe will operate in Jordan in the Middle East, followed by Pakistan in Central Asia and the Philippines in the Far East in the following months.

Working in collaboration with the PR team, the KHP Middle East events team was also tasked with creating a launch event fitting wi-tribe’s ‘fast and funky’ image while meeting protocol requirements for a guest list including senior members of parliament, international ambassadors and the chief executives of wi-tribe and its parent companies.

KHP selected the courtyard of the Four Seasons hotel in Amman as the venue for the two-stage event. In the afternoon a press conference was staged in a specially created suite in the ballroom of the hotel, with a panel consisting of Shaikh Fahad bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of wi-tribe and Chief Operating Officer of Qtel, Shaikh Fahad Al Turki, Executive Vice-President of ATCO, Dr. Bassam Hannoun, CEO of wi-tribe Jordan and Nick Kauser, CEO Clearwire International.

In the evening a VIP reception was held in the courtyard attended by 248 guests and hosted by Shaikh Fahad bin Jassim Al Thani, Shaikh Fahad Al Turki and Dr. Bassam Hannoun, with an introductory address by Jordan’s Minister of Information and Telecommunications, His Excellency Basel Al Rosan. The courtyard was branded in wi-tribe’s corporate colours, with linen screens upon which a montage of wi-tribe marketing imagery was projected.

Two parkour ‘free-runners’ then traversed the entire Four Seasons venue, with their progress being followed on cameras projecting onto the linen screens, embodying the freedom of the internet for wi-tribe customers, making their way to the specially-constructed stage to present the unique wi-tribe wireless modem to the assembled crowd.

Thereafter Jordanian DJ Hisham provided the soundtrack for the free-runners and an international group of breakdancers to perform onstage, while five-star canapés were served to the guests while they experienced the speed and ease of wi-tribe connectivity at purpose-built workstations.

Operating in F1’s very tough environment KHP have proved over and over again they can deliver beyond their client’s expectations
